Dr Rant: Antidepressants don't work - in Hull

Dr Rant: Antidepressants don't work - in Hull

It is becoming clear that many antidepressent drugs work well in giving the patient side effects that are horrible. I suggest you look at the brilliant work of Dr. Bach who cataloged and tested on hundreds his Flower Remedies. His Rescue Remedy is famous. I speak from an experiential place of using the flower remedies particularly the Rescue Remedy and Homeopathic remedies on sets world wide. I have at least 1000 personal observations and thousands using my Hollywood Survival Kit and now my pocket pack. The set is a microcosm of everyday life in the fast lane with stress and injuries and overwork and sleeplessness. I know what I am using works and I know too that is does no harm as it is without known side effects. The remedies I use are made exactly as they were over 200 years ago and are used for the same reason and with the same good effects. Try and come to the same place I am in now, happy to tell you and everyone else that there are ways that are safe and sure and supportive of the immune system and profoundly user friendly

  1. John, there are better alternatives than pills. All of us have different DNA and different metabolisms. Some herbs and vitamins work better than others. The first thing that is needed is proper nutrition and a good physical exam. As the director of Novus Medical Detox, I often see patients who are on alcohol or opioids, central nervous system depressants, also taking antidepressants. When they detox they find they don't need the antidepressants.

This is good news because a Swedish study showed that 52% of the 2006 suicides by women on antidepressants. Since antidepressants work no better than placebos and are less effective than exercise in dealing with depression.

There is a prescription drug epidemic and these are leaders in the list of terrible abuses.

  2. Thank you Steve. I think you are absolutely right and I am sure your facts about antidepressants and suicide. Homeopathy and the flower remedies which are neither habit forming nor cause side effects can be of enormous assistance to weaning oneself off drugs. I have testimonials about how Rescue Remedy helped a lady get off Paxil. Exercise and proper diet are of course a way to rehabilitate and I am fighting the prescription drug epidemic too with Hahnemann and Bach's gifts to mankind. Keep up your good work and remember you have helpers in the wings.

  3. John, you are welcome. If we all work together we can refocus the debate on finding the cause and not just treating the symptoms of all these afflictions.

  4. Yes the debate on why would only help some for consumerism and the destruction of more enlightening ethical codes harm us and push us toward greed. Not good in an age when sharing and working together is the only way other than war of dealing with a rising population. The poor women get on antidepressants to deal with multitasking now horrible as many have jobs at home and away from home and all the responsibilities of family with no extended family of grand parents now locked away in homes. I always tell people who are on antidepressants to look to BACH Rescue Remedy as a helper to balance and Coffea Cruda 30c to get the mind in better focus and when sleep will not come due to an overactive mind. The causes are individual in the end and trying to group them has gotten us into a bad place.

  5. John, at Novus Medical Detox, we work to get people off drugs and use various natural substances to help people sleep. We find that the one thing that may make the biggest difference is making sure that they have proper hydration.

  6. I agree with your work 100% and know that using homeopathy and flower remedies is not akin to drugs in the way you mean it. They have no side effects and they support the body to do its work. No masking, just support of the immune system and the emotional state of the taker. Yes and all your efforts and techniques are of great value I am sure. But it is always nice to say this or that will help your mental and physical state so that you can accomplish your work in detoxing with help to support the work and not interfere with it.

  7. Thanks John. We have the tools available and we just have to let people know that there are alternatives. What we are doing is helping people come off drugs without the extreme pain of withdrawal so that they can go to treatment--if needed.

  8. I am pleased we spoke for in a tiny way I might have tweaked your interest in Homeopathy which is most helpful with emotional and physical pain and the Bach Flower Rescue Remedy which is a wonderful and gentle way to help those in emotional pain. It is cut in alcohol but that can be heated off.
Good luck in your worthwhile venture.

  10. I am so pleased to hear that you are investigating and if your holistic doctor would like to meet me and chat I would be only to happy to do so. My experience is all through use and observation and I can relate when, what given and what happened in real cases. It would be an honour for I admire your work a great deal. By the way the flower remedies would by many be classed as a herbal remedy as they are flowers.
